- Sun Microsystems' Java is being touted as the tool that will
- revolutionize the Internet. But is Java as great as its proponents
- maintain, or is it merely the latest overhyped Web "savior"?
-
- Network World Fusion, <http://www.nwfusion.com> has assembled
- a panel of experts for an on-line threaded conference on the merits
- and possible limitations of Java.
-
- The participants are Eric Schmidt, chief technical officer at Sun
- Microsystems, Inc.; Brent Noorda, president of Nombas, Inc.,
- which has developed a Java alternative called Cmm; Jonathan
- Reeves, CEO of Sahara Networks, Inc., which is designing a
- Java-based front end for ATM multiplexers; and Brian Matthews,
- CEO of SourceCraft, which builds Java and C++ applications.
-
- Here's your chance to question and debate these four, as well as
- other Network World Fusion users. Do you side with the Java
- supporters or the Java skeptics? And why? Share your opinions with
- us, with our experts, and with each other.
-
- If you've never used NWFusion, click on "First Visit" when you
- connect. If you're a Network World reader, type in your NWF
- number (it's highlighted in yellow in the address box on the front
- page). If not, you'll be asked a few questions first. In either case,
- accounts are free.
-
- Once in, click on the "Java Joust" button on the top of the
- home page to connect to the Java threads.
